WEST BOTTOMS
The following images are all taken in the West Bottoms. The West Bottoms is one of my favorite spots to shoot. It has so much texture, color and a wide array of backdrops. It has more of an industrial feel but as you can see, green space can also be incorporated. The West Bottoms is just a few minutes west of downtown Kansas City.
Please keep in mind that this area is constantly changing and I’m always finding new nooks to shoot in. Not all of these areas may be available on any given day due to photography restrictions, events, or the owner of the building may paint a new color. http://www.westbottoms.com

loose park
Loose Park is the largest and most iconic park in Kansas City. This sprawling park sits just south of the country club plaza in Kansas City and offers luscious landscapes throughout the park. Loose Park requires a city permit. The permit takes about a week to process and is $25/hour of shooting. I apply for the permit but the cost is the responsibility of the client. Although I love this park at all times of day, it is best to schedule a morning session or a weeknight because it is a very crowded park! Even at nonpeak times be prepared to wait for popular stops! http://kcparks.org/park/loose-park/

crossroads art district
The crossroads are another ‘city’ type setting in a very artistic neighborhood. It boasts alleys, a gorgeous ivy wall and grafitti if you are looking for an urban look. This location is off limits the first Friday evening of each month due to an event. The crossroads is very popular so be prepared to wait for popular stops so if you love something make sure to let me know! http://crossroadskc.com
