MY ADOPTION STORY {HAPPILY EVER AFTER}

Both my cat and dog were adopted and are the most awesome pets ever!  My cat, Pig, was adopted in February of 2000 and he is now 19 years young!  He is  is my furry soulmate and has been by my side every day since!  What I love most about Pig is how loving he is.  He greets me at the door when I get home and must be on or near me at all times! He loves to cuddle and fit inside boxes too small for him.  Pig is battling kidney disease and I cherish every day I get to spend with this love bug.  In January of 2013, I decided to take a dog out for a weekend for a break from the shelter.  On day 2 Dagwood came down with a very bad respiratory infection so we elected to foster him at our home to take him to vet visits and let him recover.  Well, it didn’t take long to realize that I couldn’t look into those big brown eyes and ever say goodbye.  He was so good around the cat and Pig seemed to ‘tolerate’ him so  we officially foster failed and became parents again to our Dapper Dagwood in February of 2013!  He is a master fetcher and so much fun to have around the house.  He goes into ‘the twist’ whenever we get home and his tail takes out anything in his path…including the cat!  We have fun spoiling….I mean taking him to Shawnee Mission Park dog beach and getting treats from Good Dog 2 Go after his swim.  He is such a great dog and we love having him in our family so much!   Having pets has enriched our lives so much and so glad we opted to adopt!

I am a Hearts Speak service professional which is a wonderful organization that is all about artists helping animals.  We are animal advocates who have a passion for improving and saving the lives of animals and one way to help animals is through choosing adoption.  The number of animals needing homes is staggering and shelters struggle every single day to make room for incoming animals.  Adoption saves TWO lives…the one you adopt and the space for another animal in need.

Please read below for how to enter the FAVORITE ADOPTION STORY contest and I look forward to reading all your beautiful stories!

Get to know me!

I have always been more interested in capturing everyday moments and genuine emotions of people and this is reflected in how I photograph my clients. I will always prefer laughter instead of a cheesy smile. I will always prefer to leave the disney band-aid on the scabbed knee instead of photoshopping it out. I will always prefer the image of you gazing at your dog as he wags his tail and kisses your face despite how 'fat' you feel. Time goes REALLY fast so choose to live in the moment and I would love to capture it for you!
